Chelsea & Heidi Take a Road Trip

Here are some glimpses of the road trip Chelsea and I took to Lompoc last weekend. We left on Friday morning. On the way we stopped in Los Angeles at the temple and then drove through Beverly Hills and Hollywood. We thought a lot of Morgan as we drove by Van Nuys, Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley, Oxnard and Ventura, his mission stomping grounds.
It is wildflower season, and many roadsides were bright with spring blooms. The hills outside of Lompoc looked like green velvet, thanks to all the rain we've been receiving. The drive along the coast was very beautiful as well.
Bill and Becky were very gracious hosts and provided a comfortable place for us to stay. We had a lot of fun seeing their daughter, Sarah Heath, play one of the main characters in "Oklahoma!" She played a very spunky and cute old lady, Aunt Eller, and did a great job.
We really enjoyed being with Uncle Bob and Aunt Inez and many of their family--Bill & Becky and children, Carolyn and Ross, and Doug & Holly and children. It brought back a lot of great memories and good feelings for me. Thanks, Mom and Dad, for helping us get to know our cousins when we were young.
On Sunday, we went to church with the Lompoc Heaths in their ward, where Bill is the bishop. When I saw Carolyn walk in, I had to laugh. She and I were wearing almost identical outfits! After church, Uncle Bob & Aunt Inez had everyone over to their house for a delicious lasagna dinner. It was so fun to be together. It was also great to see how our cousins are raising the next generation to be strong in the gospel. Too soon, it was time to head home. On our way back, we stopped between Santa Barbara and Ventura and watched a beautiful sunset over the ocean. We arrived home that evening tired but happy, with a pocketful of fun new memories.

Hi gang. Here's an alert for all of us. This was published in a recent Readers' Digest:
"Many kitchen plastics contain endocrine disrupters that may be linked to breast cancer, leukemia, and other maladies. New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof reports on a symposium at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine that suggests people avoid plastics labeled 3, 6, and 7 ('unless they are marked BPA-free')and refrain from microwaving or dishwashing plastic containers of any kind."
